Steve was awarded his M.A. degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in May of 2015 from Liberty University. He also earned his B.S. in Psychology in Christian Counseling from Liberty University in 2012. Additionally, he is a certified SYMBIS facilitator (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts). He is a Pre-Clinical Fellow with the AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy) as well as a member of the NCAMFT (North Carolina Association for Marriage and Family Therapy) and the AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors). In working with individuals, Steve draws on and utilizes the client’s strengths to help work through life’s challenges by using Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). He uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) when working with couples. Steve uses various trauma focused models, including EMDR with clients healing from trauma.

Steve offers a variety of therapy services to individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents in Fuquay-Varina and surrounding areas. He also offers therapy from a Christian worldview. Some of the areas Steve works with include but are not limited to: pre-marital counseling, stress/anger management, life transitions, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, grief, communication, trust, infidelity, conflict resolution, sexual addiction, trauma, forgiveness, and intimacy.

Steve is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (License LMFT 1819) at Foundations Family Therapy in Fuquay Varina, NC. Prior to being licensed, Steve’s previous experiences are as an intern at Foundations Family Therapy during his Master’s program and at Fayetteville Family Life Center through his Bachelor’s degree. He has experience working with soldiers and their families and additionally, he has 6 years of volunteer experience working with men struggling with sexual addiction.

His desire to help others build strong, resilient families came from his own experiences as a husband, father and soldier. In December of 2010, Steve retired from the US Army’s Special Operations Command after 20 years of service and 5 combat deployments. As a result of his service he learned how to navigate life’s transitions, manage stress and anxiety, overcome trauma and all the while leading his family through it. Steve’s goal is to help others do the same by providing a safe place to work through and overcome their challenges in life. Steve is married to his beautiful wife Jen and together they have six children, (5 boys and 1 girl).
