What Thriving means to me

Thriving means striving to use your gifts and talents to live a relationally, spiritually, emotionally and physically balanced life. It means growing in grace and resilience and holding hope through hard times.

About My
Areas of Focus

I enjoy working with the dynamics of child, individual, couple and family therapy. I have experience working in several diverse contexts including elementary and high schools, medical clinics, community centers, university and international settings. I have training in several different therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and TF-CBT.

Why I love what I do

I believe it is a gift to be invited into clients’ lives and to walk alongside them for a period of time. It is a privilege to participate in clients’ life stories as they tap into their strengths, hope and resilience.

What i do

For Fun!

I grew up in East Africa and my early life experiences taught me to place a high value on diversity and inclusion. I received my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) in 2004 from George Fox University and my Ph.D. in MFT from Virginia Tech in 2008. I went on to teach and was an associate professor at California State University, Chico from 2008-2016. My husband and I then adopted two amazing kids and relocated to North Carolina. I love spending time with my family, enjoying the outdoors, and reading in my spare time. I look forward to learning about you!
