SUSANNA ELLIOT Trauma Therapist

SUSANNA ELLIOT

Trauma Therapist

"Susanna is a Marriage & Family Therapist Intern and graduate student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary working towards a Masters of Arts in Marriage, Family, & Individual Counseling.  She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional & Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist--Sex-trafficking & Exploitation. Additionally, she has devoured books & completed numerous trainings in the areas of attachment, bereavement, dissociation, childhood sexual abuse, human trafficking, and domestic abuse. She has led support groups for Domestic Abuse, Child Sexual Abuse, Grief, and Pregnancy & Infant Loss.

Though still a student therapist she has ten years experience working with women & families. She is certified as a birth & bereavement doula and childbirth educator. She's had the honor of being able to walk with hundreds of families during deeply intimate & life altering seasons. The majority of those birth experiences have been with families joyfully transitioning into life with a new baby and adjusting to the challenges of parenthood.  But, she has also spent time walking through pregnancy and birth with families who have received news that their baby will most likely die before or during birth. Walking beside each of these families has unique challenges and blessings. It is always an honor to be a part of their story for a little while. The roles of doula and therapist have much overlap. Serving in birth has prepared her in many ways to be a therapist.

More than any other experience she has learned most from being a mother to five amazing humans. She enjoys spending time with them and seeing them learn and grow into the people they were created to be.
